A lawn that gets away from you by midweek, beds that need fresh mulch, a slope or a bare corner you’ve pictured as something better. TNM Tree and Landscaping keeps yards up week to week and builds them out with pavers and retaining walls for homeowners in Martinsburg and the towns around it, and Travis walks the property with you and tells you plainly what it would take. Request a free estimate and we’ll take it from here.
Tell us what’s going on and we’ll set up a time to come take a look. All projects receive a free estimate.
Why it matters
A yard that is looked after a little at a time stays easy to live with: the lawn at a steady height, the hedges holding their line, the beds tidy and the edges crisp. One that waits turns into a weekend of catching up.
The other half of landscaping works the opposite way. Pavers and retaining walls are built once and lived with for years, so the planning at the start matters more than the work on any single day.
What's included
Landscaping with us comes in two kinds: the regular care that keeps a yard in shape, and the projects that change how it looks and works. Here is what each one involves, so you can tell which you’re after.
A lawn cut at a steady height stays fuller and is easier to keep than one that gets cut in big hauls every few weeks, and a regular day means you stop thinking about it. Weekly is the rhythm through the growing season.
Shrubs and hedges that are trimmed a little at a time hold a clean line and stay out of the walkway and away from the windows. It can be done alongside the mowing, so the whole yard stays on one schedule.
Fresh mulch finishes a bed, holds moisture in and keeps weeds down. Many beds want a new layer every year or two.
A clean edge between the lawn and a bed is what makes a yard look cared for from the street. It’s a small job that changes how the whole yard reads.
Beds, borders and other features give a yard some shape, like a planted bed along the front walk, a border around a tree or a corner that finally has a purpose. Tell us what you’ve pictured and we’ll talk through what’s realistic.
Pavers can turn a bare patch into a walkway, a patio or a path to the back door. They come in a wide range of looks, so a good share of the work is choosing the one that suits your house.
For a slope that washes out in heavy rain, a bed that keeps sliding downhill or a hillside you’d like to use, a retaining wall holds the ground where you want it and can open up level space.
What to expect
Regular care and one-time projects feel different to live with, so here is how each one goes, from the price to what you’re left with.
Weekly care is priced by the yard: how big it is, how often you want us, and how much trimming comes with it. Projects like mulch, pavers and retaining walls are priced by the job, based on size, how much preparation the ground needs and how easy the space is to reach. Either way you get the number from the free estimate before anything starts.
A mowing visit is typically an hour or two for an average yard. Mulch and edging often fit in a day, while a paver walkway, patio or retaining wall is measured in days, and a larger one in a week or more. Travis will have a realistic idea for yours once he has walked the property.
For regular care, pick up toys, hoses and anything else loose on the lawn, and make sure we can get through the gate. For a project, tell us what you've pictured, point out where you'd like things to go, and mention sprinkler lines or anything else in the area we should know about.
A mowing day is a quick, noisy visit. A project is bigger, with equipment and materials arriving and the work area opened up, so the yard looks like a work site for a few days before it looks finished. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and Travis is on the job if anything comes up.
Week to week, a yard that is kept up without you thinking about it. After a project, finished beds, edges, pavers or walls, and a site we've cleaned up before we leave.
How it works
We want you to feel looked after from the first phone call to the last day on your property. That means you hear back when you reach out, you know when we’re coming, and the person who walked your yard is the one who shows up to work on it. We treat your property the way we’d want ours treated, and when we leave, you shouldn’t have to wonder whether the job is finished.
Tell us about the tree, the yard or the space you’ve been picturing.
We walk it with you and see the job in person before any numbers come up.
A free, plain quote. On tree work: we drop it and you clean up, or we handle everything.
We show up when we said we would, clean up, and don’t leave until you’re satisfied.

In all my many and varied landscaping needs, Travis has always been reliable, responsible, and extremely honest! He has been a treasure chest of knowledge, guidance, and creative landscaping ideas. His attention to detail and appreciation for nature in conjunction with his pride in his workmanship is obvious in every job. He has exceeded all my expectations from taking trees down, cleaning up brush, building a retaining wall, and designing a walkway. His goal at the end of every job is to make you smile and be pleased with his work. He is a great asset to me and hopefully will be to others as well!

Service area
Martinsburg is home, and the towns around it are the ones we know best. We work close to where we live, so a call to us is a call to a neighbor. If your town is on the list below, we come to you.
Our deals
A free estimate is how every job starts with us, because you should know where you stand before you decide anything. The discounts are our way of saying thanks to the people in this community who serve it, and to the seniors who have been part of it for years.
Take 10% off your job. Just ask when we come out to walk the property.
Mention it when you reach out, or when we meet for the estimate.
Every quote is free, given after we’ve seen the job in person.
Questions
Landscaping covers a lot of ground, from a Saturday’s worth of mulch to a wall that holds up a hillside, and the questions change with the job. These are the ones that tend to come up. If yours isn’t here, call and ask us directly.
Yes. Some people begin with a single project, like a cleanup or fresh mulch, and decide afterward whether they want the yard kept up every week. Tell us which you’re after when you request the estimate, and we’ll quote it that way.
Mowing runs through the growing season, roughly spring into fall. Mulch and edging are spring jobs for many yards and can be refreshed in the fall. Pavers and retaining walls can go in whenever the ground is workable, which here means spring through fall for most projects. Hedges depend on the plant, so tell us what you have.
Most beds do well with a fresh layer every year or two, since mulch breaks down over time. A layer that is too deep can cause problems for plants, so more is not better. We’ll suggest what your beds need when we walk the property.
Well-built paver work and retaining walls are meant to last for many years, and what decides it is the preparation underneath, which you never see once the job is finished. That is a fair thing to ask any contractor about, and you can ask Travis how he would approach yours when he walks the property.
Taller retaining walls often do, and the rules differ from town to town, so a quick call to your town office before the work is worth making. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll talk it through at the estimate.
Show us what to look out for when we walk the property: sprinkler heads, a garden you’ve put work into, an invisible fence line. On mowing days it helps if gates are unlocked and dogs are inside. We would rather hear about it up front than have it come as a surprise.
Yes, that is part of the walk. Tell Travis what you’ve pictured, or what bothers you about the yard, and he’ll tell you plainly what he would do and what it would take.
Yes. TNM is licensed and insured, which is a fair thing to ask of anyone who is going to work on your property. And since Travis is on the job, any question about it can go straight to him.
